Merrillville, IN – Below is the statement from Democratic Congressman-elect Frank J. Mrvan upon the announcement that he was victorious in the election to the U.S. House of Representatives.

“First, I want to thank my wife Jane, and our two daughters Genevieve and Scarlett, for their unwavering support throughout the campaign this past year.  We are successful tonight because of their tireless dedication to my commitment to serve the people of Indiana’s First Congressional District.

“I also want to thank Congressman Pete Visclosky, the United Steelworkers, the American Federal of Teachers Indiana, and the International Longshoremen Association  for their early support and endorsement of my campaign.  Following our successful primary, I continue to be grateful for the enthusiastic energy and support from countless volunteers and many other organizations, groups, and individuals, including the Building and Construction Trades Council of Northwest Indiana.

“I welcome the tremendous responsibility of this office and look forward to using my experiences and knowledge to pragmatically address the incredible challenges of today.  We must act with all urgency to address the pandemic and the economic uncertainty that is impacting all of us.  I also look forward to bringing our region together so we can continue to focus on attracting federal resources so that we can transform our economy and create more good-paying jobs, access to affordable healthcare, and a safe and secure retirement for everyone.”
